On Tuesday, June 20, the UT Works Program will release Prototype 2 (P2) of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) module at a launch event kicking off the Design Confirmation process. This milestone comes after obtaining approvals from the units taking part in the program of the design recommendations documents generated by the two rounds of design sessions, which concluded at the end of March 2023.
Once begun, the Design Confirmation process will confirm that the design will be able to perform the required functions necessary to meet the needs of the University, as reflected in the design recommendation documents. This step is key to overall program success as it also begins the Iterative Build Process that will transform the design into the final system.
The process involves demonstrations of system functionality, hands-on exploration of the P2 O&M prototype, and providing feedback to the project team, who will then address any issues or concerns before repeating the process. This repetition is at the heart of the iterative build process, which uses the repetition of a series of steps in a process to improve the process. For example, testing the P2 prototype, providing feedback, and addressing any issues before testing again, repeating the process.
The team involved in Design Confirmation will include members of the Core Design Team who took part in the O&M design sessions, subject matter experts (SMEs), project team members, and others with specific expertise to provide feedback.
Design Conformation involving P2 will run until the end of July. At that time, a more advanced prototype (P3), incorporating feedback from the P2 process, will be released, and the iterative process will begin again. The process of releasing prototypes will continue until October when the UT Works Program plans to deliver the P-Final version of the O&M prototype.
