UT Works Phase 1 Update — Testing Ensures a Successful Launch

Over the past ten weeks, the Unit Testing of UT Works modules achieved an important milestone by ensuring all the parts of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Capital Planning and Project Management (CPPM), Go Mobile modules, and their related components perform as expected before End-to-End (E2E) testing can begin. The inclusion of teams from each involved in the UT Works Program was critical in completing testing. These participants completed over 70 different test scenarios during the unit testing period, providing valuable feedback to the implementation team.

End-to-End (E2E) Testing Begins

On April 30, The UT Works Program initiated the End-to-end testing phase of the implementation process. This phase, which will continue until the end of August, provides participants with ample time to thoroughly evaluate the UT Works system. During this period, teams from business units will collaborate with the implementation team to ensure all requirements are met. Issues uncovered during E2E testing will be prioritized to ensure the implementation team addresses any issues that could affect the official launch of UT Works this fall. Lower priority items will be reviewed and prioritized for inclusion in system optimization efforts scheduled to occur after go-live.

E2E testing is a comprehensive approach that evaluates the software and business processes from start to finish. Business units involved in the UT Works Program provided key user stories (real-world scenarios) that will be walked through during E2E testing by over 70 participants across different business units. These sessions will allow the team to evaluate how UT Works will perform in “on-the-job” situations by confirming that system functionality, performance, and user experience meet both business and technical requirements. This approach ensures that all UT Works system configurations, integrations, and automations will cut over successfully when UT Works goes live in the fall of 2024.
