Testing Update: User Stories Help Improve Testing Outcomes

A key contributor to End-to-End (E2E) testing success is the collection of user stories created with input from business units involved in UT Works testing. User Stories, which are comprehensive real-world scenarios, allow testers to use the system the same way their co-workers will use UT Works after go-live. Being able to evaluate how UT Works will perform in “on-the-job” situations is key to the successful adoption of the system. Using real-world scenarios means that some user stories are very specific and recognizable.

UT Works Phase 1 Update — Testing Ensures a Successful Launch

Over the past ten weeks, the Unit Testing of UT Works modules achieved an important milestone by ensuring all the parts of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Capital Planning and Project Management (CPPM), Go Mobile modules, and their related components perform as expected before End-to-End (E2E) testing can begin. The inclusion of teams from each involved in the UT Works Program was critical in completing testing. These participants completed over 70 different test scenarios during the unit testing period, providing valuable feedback to the implementation team.

Program Leaders David Darling, Dan Cook, Heather Hanna, and Mark Jacaman provided an overview of the program guiding principles, governance, and training and communications. Attendees also saw demos of the Assetworks tool which will power UT Works when it launches.

On October 5, Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) portfolio leadership hosted a launch event for the UT Works Program, a new set of software tools and business processes focused on enabling the university to improve the management of physical spaces, improve the delivery of mission-critical services, and streamline workflows.
