Transformation Network Change Champions and Leaders each play a key role in supporting their teams and coworkers.

Change Champions Participate in Pilot Training

Pilot Training kicked off on August 20, with a three-day Supervisor training session. The purpose of pilot training is to provide the UT Works Trainers with the opportunity to present the content they developed prior to the official start of UT Works Training. You can think of it as an opportunity to test training methods and materials, the same way we are testing UT Works before Go-Live.

Thirty-four Change Champions representing business units implementing UT Works participated in the first pilot training event. By taking the training early, they can provide feedback to the trainers before the official UT Works training sessions begin in September.  Learning about the system early also helps them build familiarity with training content and UT Works so they are better able to help support their co-workers as they go through training over the next two months. The primary role of the Change Champions is to champion their co-workers and help support their successful transition to using UT Works.

August’s event is not the only pilot training event the UT Works Training Team will hold for the Change Champions. A similar Pilot training event involving Technicians and Custodians will take place the week of August 26, with a pilot training event specific to the Capital Planning and Project Management (CPPM) module occurring on September 16.

Leading You Through Change

Change Leaders are managers and supervisors representing each of the units taking part in the UT Works Program. As they are responsible for managing teams and operations, they are invested in helping to ensure that their teams’ success.

Beginning September 4, Change Leaders will begin participating in Change Coaching sessions. Formed into ten cohorts to better facilitate discussion, they will meet weekly over the course of six weeks to learn how the transition to using UT Works will impact the way their employees get work done.

Change Leaders will use what they learn in these sessions to work with their teams to determine where they may need additional training or assistance. They will also help ensure their employees have the resources and support they need to successfully navigate the transition to UT Works.

The roles and activities of Change Champions and Leaders combine to provide multiple levels of support to help their teams and coworkers successfully transition to the UT Works way of working more quickly and with confidence.
