What’s Happening During the UT Works Transition

At 4 p.m. on October 31, 2024, both FAMIS and WORQS will go offline. This marks the end of an era (Happy Retirement FAMIS and WORQS!) and the beginning of the transition to UT Works.

UT Works Training Update: Getting Ready for Go-Live

During September, UT Works Trainers taught 22 classes focused on Supervisors and Warehouse Managers, Capital Planning and Project Management (CPPM) Project Managers, Asset Managers, and Central Warehouse personnel.  Some of these courses will continue through October with other training courses including Technician, Asset Manager, CPPM Inspector, CPPM Accounting, and Custodial beginning in October and continuing through go0live.

Preparing Campus Customers for UT Works

As the go-live transition will include freezing WORQS to prevent customers from submitting new requests, campus customers will also receive instructions on how to request assistance with any issues that may arise during the transition window. These instructions will ensure that units transitioning to UT Works continue to support their customers across the University.

While you may have seen the term Go-Live in previous UT Works Program communications, and some of you may even be familiar with the term cutover from working on physical infrastructure projects, you may not have heard it in connection to UT Works.  As these are both terms you certainly will be hearing a lot more often this fall, we felt it would be useful to share a quick primer on what they mean in the context of UT Works.

UT Works Training Begins in September

UT Works training officially begins on Tuesday, September 3, and will continue through October, with over 900 employees receiving training before Go-Live. Each business unit involved in UT Works will handle registration for their employees, following their internal processes. The registration plan helps ensure that every employee gets registered for the course(s) they need while also ensuring that units will still be able to provide services to campus consistently during the training period.

Change Management Training Supports a Successful Transition

The UT Works Program partnered with Axiom Learning Solutions to offer Change Management Workshops. The training aims to prepare managers, supervisors, and informal leaders to help their team members successfully navigate the transition to UT Works within their units. Change management is a key part of supporting employees as they transition from how they do their jobs today to how they will in the future using UT Works.
